At the left is Val's scrunchie made with one strand of lustersheen and one strand of metallic thread. I used a size 1 steel hook.
At the left is Val's scrunchie made using 2 strand of #10 cotton held together. I used a size 1 steel hook and 4mm beads with every sc in round 2.
Examples made by Shirley Guess.
Foundation Row: Holding 2 or 3 strands of thread together, slip stitch to elastic. Ch 1. Fill elastic with scs.
Rnd 1: Make a sc in first st. *Ch 3. Sk 1 st, make a sc in next st. Repeat from * around.
Rnd 2: Make sc in first sc. *Ch 3. Sc in ch-3 loop. Ch 3. Sc in sc. Repeat from * around. Fasten off.
Designer's Notes: Here are some variations:
#1: I add a strand of bedspread cotton with my pearls strung on and crochet with the double strand.
# 2: Instead of pearls I've added a row of metallic Knit-cro-sheen. This gives it a nice sparkly edge.
#3: I've also used cotton yarn (4 ply
I think) and a bigger hook.
It's been a lot of fun experimenting and just being creative. Val
