These ruffles are worked on a background one-triple crochet, one-chain mesh.Turn the mesh sideways so that the foundation chain now forms the right-hand edge and triple crochet stitches lie horizontally. Rejoin the yarn to the stem of the second triple.
Make four chains to count as the first triple. Work about 12 triples around the stem of the first stitch - the number can be varied as required.
Pushing the stitches together, work 13 triples around the stem of each mesh triple to the LH edge. Fasten off.
Return to the right hand edge of the work and rejoin the yarn to the next triple crochet. Work another row of ruffles as before. Work ruffles along every line of mesh triples, omitting the last line of triples.
#1 Simple Double Crochet Ruffles
Even simple double crochet ruffles, worked in one color on a one-double crochet, two-chain mesh, can form a very attractive textured fabric.
#2 Glitter-striped Ruffles
Use a plain and glitter yarn. Using the plain yarn, work double crochet ruffles on a one-double, two-chain mesh, working 13 doubles around each stitch and into intervening two-chain spaces.
2nd row Using glitter yarn, work in sc.
3rd row Using plain yarn, work in dc.
4th row As 2nd row.
#3 Long Ruffles
Use a mohair yarn to work triple crochet ruffles on a one-triple crochet, one-chain mesh. Make each ruffle from two rows of triple crochet and use a different color for each separate ruffle.
#4 Multi-Colored Ruffles
Use five colors, A, B, C, D and E. Using A, work double crochet ruffles on a one-triple crochet, one-chain mesh. Work 14 triples around the stem of each triple. Work rows of single crochet using each of the remaining four colors. Fasten off.
LusterSheen is great for scrunchies and vests. Another thing that really works well for the scrunchies, and they look very classy--1/8" or 1/16" double-faced satin ribbon. Give it a whirl.
