Designer's Notes: First, let me tell you what I am doing with these coasters...I am taking a 4" round paper mache box, (about $2 at Walmart) gluing the coaster to the top of the box and adding some rose buds glued on top of the coaster. For the rose buds, I had on hand something called Latex Roses...on clearance at Walmart. I have not been able to find more, but I am sure that silk flowers would look just as nice.
Size 10 thread in main color and contrasting color. Size 7 steel hook.
To begin, with main color, ch 5 and join.
Rnd 1...ch 3 (1st dc) work 23 dc in ring, join. (24 dc)
Rnd 2...ch 3 (1st dc) work (1 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same st. * Skip 2 dc, work shell of (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next dc. Repeat from * around, join. ( 8 shells)
Rnd 3...Work shell, ch 1, in each shell around, join. ( 8 shells with ch 1 spaces in between)
Rnd 4...Sl st to ch space of 1st shell. Ch 3 (1st dc) work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same space. *Ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next shell. Repeat from * around, join and fasten off.
Rnd 5...attach contrasting color with a sc in any ch 2 space of any shell. Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, (picot) sc in same space. Work around coaster making sc in every sc and ch space and (sc, picot, sc) in each shell space.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
