GAUGE: Size: 11" x 15" Border is about 4" deep at the widest part.
7 rows of Trs = 4 inches (in placemat center)

To make this placemat you first start with one border, then make the middle and second border.

This picture only shows one border and a small portion of the placemat.

MATERIALS:
Pink Rose Lustersheen 50gm (1.75 oz.)
Size E Aluminium hook

Note: You can use any non-fuzzy sportweight yarn for these placemats. Lily Kable Kotton, SouthMaid Cotton 8, and even several strands of Cotton #10 held together would work.

DIRECTIONS: Border

Ch 72.

Row 1: Tr in 4th ch from hook. * Ch 1. sk next ch. tr in next ch. Repeat * across. (36 tr) Turn.

Row 2: Ch 5 (counts as tr and ch 1) (Tr in next space, ch 1) twice. Tr in next tr. [Ch 10. sk next 5 tr. tr in next space. ( ch 1 tr in next space) seven times] Repeat between [ ] once more. Ch 10. Sk next 5 tr. (tr in space, ch 1) three imes. Tr in turn chain. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in space and sc in tr. Ch 5 [# In ch 10 loop make, 5 tr, ch 3, 5 tr. Ch 5. Sk next 3 tr. ## (Sc in ch 1 space, sc in next st) two times. Sc in space. Ch 5] Repeat between brackets once more. Then repeat between # # once. Sc in space. Sc in turn chain. Turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, sk first st. Sc in sc. Ch 3. [# 1 tr in next st. 2 tr in next st. tr in next 2 sts. 2 tr in next st. In ch 3 loop, make tr, ch 3, tr. 2 tr in next st. Tr in next 2 sts. 2 tr in next st. tr in next st. Ch 3. ## sc in 3rd sc. Ch 3.] Rep. between brackets once more. Repeat between # to ## once. Sc in last st. Turn.

Row 5: Ch 5 [# (Tr in tr. Ch 1. sk next st. ) 4 times. Ch 1. In chain 3 loop make tr, ch 5, tr. Ch 1 (tr in tr. Ch 1, sk next st. ) 4 times. Ch 5 # sc in sc. Ch 5.] Repeat between brackets once more. Repeat between # once. End with hdc in turning chain. Turn.

Row 6: Ch 6 [# (sc in ch 1 space, ch 2, ch 4 & sl st in 4th chain from hook Picot Made and ch 2) 3 times. Sc in last ch-1 space. Ch 2. All in In ch-5 loop make: hdc, ch 2, Picot, ch 2, hdc & ch 2. (Sc in ch-1 space, ch 2, Picot and ch 2) 3 times. Sc in ch 1 space. Ch 5 ## Sc in sc. Ch 5 ] Rep. between brackets once more. Rep. between # to ## once. End with sc in ch 1 of turning chain. Fasten off.

For Center Part of Placemat

• Reattach yarn to long, straight side of border.
• Row 7: Make Ch 5. *Tr in next tr. ch 1 Rep. from * across. Tr in top of turning ch (36 tr made)
• Row 8: Ch 3 *Tr in space. Ch 1. Rep. from * across. End with tr in top of turning chain. (36 tr)
• Rep. Rows 7 and 8 Six times, ending with Row 8. (If you decided you want a bigger placemat, just add extra rows here.)

Do not fasten off.

Turn. Rep. rows 2 -6 for opposite border. Fasten off. Block, if needed.
