 CROCHETED BEADED BELL

Beaded BellModel by Designer. Size: 1-1/2 " x 2"

Editor's Note: Unfortunately, this photo/scan does not do justice to the Bell's delicate beauty. In person, the beads glisten and you can see the small pineapple design on the side of the bell.

 

DESIGNER'S NOTES:

MATERIALS:
Size #20 Thread
Size 9 Steel Hook
100 Seed Beads

DIRECTIONS: Begins at the top of the bell and is worked downwards. There is a series of little pineapple designs.

String on all the beads to the thread before you begin crocheting.

Beg: Leave an 8" tail to make a hanging loop; Ch 6. Join to beg chain to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Work 12 dc in ring. (don't sl st to join)

Rnd 2: Substituting Ch 2 for first dc, *work 1 dc next st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat * around. (18 dcs)

Rnd 3: Substituting Ch 3 for first tr, *work 1 tr in next st, 2 tr in next st. Repeat * around. (27 trcs)

Rnd 4: (Work tr in each of next 3 sts. Work a beaded trc in each of next 4 sts. Work tr in each of next 2 sts. ) 3 times.

Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in same trc. Ch 5. *Work a beaded sc in each of next 3 sts, between last row's beads. Ch 5. sc in 3rd tr. Ch 5. Repeat from * around, subsituting the last ch 5 with a ch 2 1 dc in first sc.

Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in same space, ch 5, sc in next ch 1 sp, ch 5. *Work 2 beaded scs between lst rows beads, ch 5, sc in next ch 5 space, ch 5, sc in next ch 5 space, ch 5 ## Repeat from * to ## until one ch-5 remains. Ch 2 and 1 dc in first sc.

Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc in same space, ch 4, *Work 5 beaded scs in middle of ch 5 space. Ch 4. Sc in next ch 5 space. Ch 4. 1 beaded sc between last rows beads. Ch 4. Sc in next ch 5 space, ch 4 ## Repeat from * to ##, until one ch-5 space remains. Ch 1 and 1 dc in first sc .

Rnd 8: Ch 1, Sc in same space, Ch 3. Sc in Ch 4 space, Ch 3. *Work beaded sc in each of next 4 sts, between last row of beads. (Ch 3. Sc, Ch 3) five times Repeat from * until last ch 3. Ch 1, 1 hdc in first sc.

Rnd 9/10/11: Work as Rnd 8, except *Work beaded sc in each of next 3/2/1/ stitches, between last row of beads. And work (Ch 3. Sc, Ch 3) six/seven/eight times. Repeat from * until last ch 3. Ch 1, 1 hdc in first sc.

Rnd 12: * Ch 3. Sc in next space. Repeat from * until last ch 3. Ch 1, 1 hdc in first sc.

Note for next Round. If you crochet tightly, you may need to add a sc between each beaded st to ensure that the bottom of the bell is big enough.

Rnd 13: Sc 1, Ch 1 in ch 3 space. *Sc 1, beaded sc in next st. Ch 1 ##. Repeat from * to ## around. Bead sc in last ch 3 space. Finish Off.

FINISHING TOUCHES

With the beginning tail, Ch 8. Fasten to oopposite side of chain 6 beginning ring. This makes a hanging loop.

Starch bell using 2 parts sugar and 1 part water.

Options: Add a clapper with a pearl bead or tie a ribbon bow on top.
