 CHRISTMAS JINGLE BELL SCRUNCHIE

An Original Design by Janet Jarosh

Donated to Crochet Partners and Posted Here with Permission 11/97

Model crocheted by MaryLynn Oswald

Pattern Edited by Vicky Linnell

Designer's Notes:

This is made with 2 strands size #10 cotton thread held together. For a candycane effect, use one strand red/one strand white. I like to use one strand Christmas variegated/one strand red or green. Of course you can also use 2 strands red or two strands green. I have used all white, all gold, and black & gold for a more formal look.

MATERIALS:

Cotton Thread, size 10, 2 colors - about 20 yards each
Size 00 Steel Crochet Hook
Elastic covered ponytail holder
5 jingle bells, about 3/8" wide

DIRECTIONS:

Before you do the foundation row, slip 5 jingle bells onto one or both strands of thread.

Foundation row: With two strands together, join thread with slip stitch around band, ch 1, work sc around until band is completely covered, stretching just a little to add a few more sc. (About 45 sc). Join with slip stitch to beginning ch 1.

Row 1: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around. Join with slip stitch to beginning ch 1.

Row 2: Ch 3, slip first jingle bell close to hook, yo & draw thru loop, ch 11, sc in next sc, ch 15, sc in next sc, continuing around adding jingle bell every 10 loops or so. (Just eyeball this. It doesn't need to be exactly even). Finish off.
