CROCHET PIGS
Each pig is about 2 5/8" tall.

MATERIALS:
Sport yarn--1 oz each lt pink and dk pink, small amount black;
polyester fiberfill;
tapestry needle;
F hook or hook needed to obtain gauge.

  • GAUGE: 5 sc =1"; 5 sc rows=1"


    DIRECTIONS: Male Body
  • Rnd 1: Working in continuous rnds, starting at neck, with dk pink, ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook.

  • Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around.

  • Rnd 3: Sc in each of first 2 sts, 2 sc in each of next 5 sts, sc in each of last 3 sts.

  • Rnds 4-14: Sc in each st around.

  • Rnd 15: Skip first st, sc in last 14 sts.

  • Rnd 16: (skip next st, sc in next st) around, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off. Sew opening closed.

    HEAD

  • Rnd 1: Starting at snout, with lt pink, ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st in back lp. Fasten off.

  • Rnd 2: Working in back lps, join dk pink with sc in joining sl st, 2 sc in each of next 2 sts, sc last 2 sts tog.

  • Rnd 3: Sc in each of first 2 sts, 2 sc in each of next 2 sts, sc in each of last 2 sts.

  • Rnd 4: 2 sc in first st, sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in last st.

  • Rnd 5: Sc in first 8 sts; for top, 2 sc in each of last 2 sts.

  • Rnds 6-7: Sc in each st around. At end of last rnd, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

  • Rnd 8: Working in front lps of rnd 1, join lt pink with sl st in first st, sl st in each st around, join with sl st in first sl st. Fasten off. Sew rnd 7 of head over rnd 3 on top and rnd 2 on bottom of body.

    EAR (make 2)--with dk pink, ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch; for tip, (sc, ch 2, sc) in last ch; continuing on opposite side of ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off. Sew ears over rnd 6 on head 5/8" apart.

    TAIL--With dk pink, ch 6; for tip, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each ch across. Fasten off. Sew to top of rnd 16 on body.

    LEG (make 4)

  • Rnd 1: With dk pink, ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook.

  • Rnd 2: Working in back lps, sc in each st around.

  • Rnds 3-4: Sc in each st around.

  • Rnd 5: 2 sc in first st, sc in last 4 sts.

  • Rnd 6: Sc in first st, 2 sc in next st, sc in last 4 sts.

  • Rnd 7: Sc in each of first 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in last 4 sts. Stuff.

  • Row 8: Working in rows, for hip or shoulder, sc in first 4 sts leaving last 4 sts unworked, turn.

  • Row 9: Ch 1, sc in first st, 2 sc in each of next 2 sts, sc in last st, turn.

  • Row 10: Ch 1, sc first 2 sts tog, sc in each of next 2 sts, sc last 2 sts tog. Fasten off.

    FINISHING--Sew hip or shoulder of 2 legs over rnds 11-15 on each side of body, and hip or shoulder of other 2 legs over rnds 3-6, stuffing before closing. For eyes, embroider black satin stitch over rnd 5 on head 3/4" apart. For mouth, embroider lt pink straight stitch below snout over rnds 2 and 3.#####

    FEMALE Body

  • Rnds 1-5: With lt pink, repeat rnds 1-5 of male body.

  • Rnd 6: Sc in each of first 3 sts, ( sc in next st, sc in back lp of next st; for picot, ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook; sl st in unworked front lp of same st as last sc) 2 times, sc in last 8 sts.

  • Rnd 7: With picots in front, sc in each st around.

  • Rnd 8: Sc in each st around.

  • Rnd 9: Sc in first 4 sts, (sc in next st, sc in back lp of next st, picot, sl st in unworked front lp of same st as last sc) 2 times, sc in last 7 sts.

  • Rnds 10-11: With picots in front, sc in each st around.

  • Rnd 12: Sc in first 5 sts, (sc in next st, sc in back lp of next st, picot, sl st in unworked front lp of same st as last sc) 2 times, sc in last 6 sts.

  • Rnds 13-14: With picots in front, sc in each st around.

  • Rnds 15-16: Repeat rnds 15-16 of male body.

    HEAD, EAR, TAIL, LEG, AND FINISHING--Using lt pink for dk pink, and dk pink for lt pink, work same as male.
