PINEAPPLE PETALS DOILY, 1950 ** NB

MATERIALS:
  • Crochet cotton #size 20, 2 Balls white
  • Steel Crochet Hook # 9
    Note: If you want a softer doily, or one with a slight sheen, you can substitute DMC pearl cotton #8


    DIRECTIONS: Start at center, ch 12, join with sl st to form ring

  • Rnd 1: Ch 3, 31 dc in ring, join to 3rd ch of ch 3

  • Rnd 2: Ch 8, (skip 3 dc, dc in next dc, ch 5, rep rnd, join

  • Rnd 3: Ch 3, (6 dc in next sp, dc in next dc, rep rnd, join

  • Rnd 4: Ch 5, hold back on hook the last loop of each dtr make 2 dtr in same place as sl st, yo and draw through all loops-cluster made, *ch 12, sc in 6th ch from hook (picot made) ch 6, skip 6 dc, make 3 dtr clusters in next dc, rep rnd, join

  • Rnd 5: Sl st in next 6 ch and in picot, ch 4, 9 tr in same picot, *ch 8, 10 tr in next picot. rep rnd, join

  • Rnd 6: Ch 5, (tr in next tr, ch 1) 8 times, tr in next tr, *ch 4, tr in next sp, ch 4 (tr in next tr, ch 1) 9 times. rep rnd, join

  • Rnd 7: Sl st in next sp, sc in same sp *(ch 3, sc in next space) 8 times, ch 4, sk next sp, 2 dc in next tr, ch 4, sk next sp, sc in next sp, rep rnd, join

  • Rnd 8: Sl st in next loop, sc in same loop *(ch 3, sc in next loop) 7 times, ch 4, dc in next 2 dc, ch 4, sk next sp, sc in next loop, rep rnd, join

  • Rnd 9: Sl st in next loop, sc in same loop *(ch 3, sc in next loop) 6 times, ch 4, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 4, sk next sp, sc in next loop. rep rnd, join

  • Rnd 10: Sl st in next loop, sc in same loop *(ch 3, sc in next loop) 5 times, ch 4, dc in next dc, dc in ch 1sp, dc in next dc, ch 4, sk next sp, sc in next lp, rep rnd, join

  • Rnd 11 :Sl st in next loop, sc in same loop *(ch 3, sc in next loop) 4 times, ch 4, 2 dc in ea of next 3 dc, ch 4, sk next sp, sc in next loop, rep rnd, join

  • Rnd 12: Sl st in next loop, sc in same loop *(ch 3, sc in next loop) 3 times, ch 4, 2 dc in ea of next 6 dc, ch 4, sk next sp, sc in next lp. rep rnd, join

  • Rnd 13: Sl st in next loop, sc in same loop *(ch 3, sc in next loop) twice, ch 4, dc in next dc, 2 dc in ea of next 10 dc, dc in next dc, ch 4, sk next sp, sc in next loop. Repeat round. Join.

  • Rnd 14: Sl st in next loop, sc in same loop *ch 3, sc in next loop, ch 4, dc in ea dc across, ch 4, sk next sp, sc in next loop. Repeat round. Join.

  • Rnd 15: Sl st to centre of loop, sc in same loop, ch 5, dc in ea dc across, ch 5, sk next sp, sc in next loop. Repeat round. Join.

  • Now work pineapple individually as follows:

  • Row 1: Ch 7, dc in ea dc across, ch 4, dc in next sc, ch 7, turn

  • Row 2-3: Skip first dc, dc in ea dc across, ch4, sk 4 ch, dc in next ch, ch 7, turn

  • Row 4-5: Dec 1dc-(work off 2 dc as 1dc, dc in ea dc across to within last 2 dc, dec 1 dc, ch 4, sk 3 ch, dc in next ch, ch 7, turn

  • Row 6-8: Sk first dc, dec 2 dc, dc in ea dc across to within last 3 dc, dec 2 dc, ch 4, sk 3 ch, dc in next ch, ch 7, turn

  • Row 9: sk first dc, dec 2 dc, dc in net dc, dec 1 dc, ch 4, skip 3 ch, dc in next ch, ch 7, turn

  • Row 10: sk first dc, dec 2 dc, ch 4, sk 4 ch, dc in next ch, ch 10, turn. Skip first sp and 4 ch on next sp, sl st in next ch. Break off.

  • Next pineapple:attach thread to same sc on 15th rnd, and complete as before. Make remainder of pineapples in same way.

  • Edging: Attach thread to first sp on side of any pineapple, 3 sc in same sp, *(in next sp make sc, dc, ch 4, sc in 4th ch from hk-picot, dc and sc) 9 times, in next sp make sc, 6 dc, picot, 5 dc and sc; (in next sp made sc, dc, picot, dc and sc) 9 times, 3 sc in ea of next 2 sps, rep rnd, join and break off. starch lightly and press.
