DAISY MOTIF TABLECLOTH 1948
see note below
Pattern tested and edited S. Guess 1/97
PATTERN NOTES:
Gauge:
- Original pattern calls for size 20 thread and uses a #11 steel
hook.
It makes a motif that is about 2 1/2".
It takes 660 2 1/2" motifs to make a tablecloth that is 55" x
75"
- If you use size #10 thread and a #6 steel hook, your motif
will be about 4 1/2".
Stitch Notes:
- Unless specified join each round with a slip stitch
- Trtr (Triple Treble Crochet) Wrap thread around hook
four times. Insert hook in space or stitch specified in pattern,
wrap thread over and pull a loop through. [Wrap thread again,
and pull through two loops on hook] Repeat step between
brackets until only one loop remains.
- Dtr (Double Treble Crochet) Wrap thread around hook three
times. Insert hook in space or stitch specified in pattern, wrap
thread over and pull a loop through. [Wrap thread again, and
pull through two loops on hook] Repeat step between brackets
until only one loop remains.
MATERIALS:
Size 20 Cotton Thread.
Steel hook #11 or size needed for gauge
OR Size 10 Cotton Thread
Steel Hook #6 (editor used a Boye hook)

2dc, ch 5, 2dc. Ch5, sc in next loop, ch5. Join with sl st in 5th
ch of beginning ch. Fasten off.
Join all motifs in same manner, joining one or two sides as
needed. It's probably easier to join one strip of motifs first and
then begin joining motifs to the strip and each other. Block as
needed.
Edging: This pattern does not call for any edging. However, to
give your work a more finished appearance, you may want to edge it.
You could also simply edge your work with a row or two of scs, with
intermittant picots. For something more creative, look at 101
Crocheted Edging by the American School of Needle. It's a very
good and comprehensive book. (ASN Publishing, 1455 Linda Vista Drive,
San Marcos CA 92069)At the time of this posting, the book was in
print.
