CROCHET HOME SWEET HOME DOOR HANGER

SIZE: 4 1/4" square, excluding scalIoped edging

MATERIALS:
One 50-g (520-m) ball size 30 DMC Cebelia crochet thread (100% cotton), ecru 712
Sizes 3and 9 steel crochet hooks, or size to obtain gauge
4 1/4" x 9" piece of fabric, contrasting color
Polyester fiberfill
Sewing needle
Sewing thread
Embroidery floss, colors to match fabric

GAUGE = Following chart with smaller hook, 39 sts = 3"

CHART SYMBOLS
Each vertical grid line: 1 dc.
Each space: ch 2.
Each block: 2 dc.

DOOR HANGER
Crocheted Piece
With smaller hook, ch 51.
Row 1: (Chart l): Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across, turn - 49 sts.

Row 2 (Chart 1): Ch 3 (counts is dc), dc in 3 dc, (ch 7, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc) 3 times, dc in next 9 sts. (ch 2. sk 2 dc, dc in next dc) twic , dc in next 9 sts, (ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc) 3 times, dc in last 3 dc, turn.

Rows 3-13: Continue following Chart 1. Work odd-numbered rows from right to left and even-numbered rows from left to right.

Row 14: Ch 1, sc in each dc and ch across, turn - 49 sc.

Rows 15-25: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn; do not fasten off.

Border: Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same st; *(ch 1, sk 3 sc, 3 dc in next sc) 11 times, ch 1, work (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in last sc of row for corner; rep from * evenly spacing 11 3-dc groups down side of piece, work corner as instructed previously, complete last corner with 3 dc in same st its beg, ch 3, sl st to top of beg ch-3.

Row 2. Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc back in ch-3 corner sp, (ch 1, work 3 dc to 2nd dc of next 3-dc group) across to next corner, ch 1, work (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in corner ch-3 sp, rep is est around, ending list corner with 3 dc in ch-3 sp, sl st to top of beg ch-3.

Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 5 dc back in ch-3 corner sp; * sk first 3-dc group, (sc in 2nd dc of next 3-dc group, 11 dc in 2nd dc of next 3-dc group) to corner, sc in 2nd dc of next 3-dc group, sk next group **, work 11 dc in corner ch-3 sp; rep from * around, end at **, work 5 dc in beg corner sp, sl st to top of beg ch-3. Fasten off.

FINISHING

Cross Stitching: With three strands of floss and following Chart 2, backstitch lettering with one color; cross stitch heart with second color centering in sc band. Note: Vertical lines on chart represent sc's; horizontal lines represent rows.

Assembly: With right sides together, fold fabric in haif and sew with 1/4" seam allowance along raw edges, leaving a 2" opening for turning. Clip corners, turn right side out; stuff lightly with fiberfill; stip stitch
opening closed. Stitch crocheted piece to top of fabric leaving last row of shells free to create a ruffle.

Hanger: Row 1: With two strands of crochet thread and larger hook, stitch thread at one top corner, ch for 10", sl st to opposite top corner; turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each ch across. st st to same piece where thread is attached.
