Picture of doily used with permission
The hardest thing about this book is deciding which of the doilies to make!! This book is one in a series of 101 books from ASN. It contains 101 different patterns for small doilies. The cover of the book is in color, and inside the patterns show black-and-white pictures of the doilies. The pictures are very clear and help when following the patterns. Doilies with Different Shapes More than half of the doilies are round, but there are also about a dozen square ones, with a couple of hearts, stars, ovals, and even a triangular and a heart-shaped doily. A couple of them have ruffled edges, some have raised centers (such as flowers), and most of them are flat. At first glance, I thought many of the round ones looked alike. When I took a closer look, they are all |
different and unique. These are small doilies. Most of them are in the 4" to 5" size, with a bunch of 3" and a handful of 6" doilies thrown in. Many would be great to use as coasters, or as doilies under small figurines or vases. My sister collects Precious Moments figurines and these doilies are the perfect size to go with them. I made numbers 5, 10, 14, 38, 47, 66, and 96 (and I know I'll make more in the future). The directions were easy to follow and I had no problems. I found one error -- the last row of one pattern (I can't remember which) mentioned working in the chain 5 space, however, the previous row only had chain 6 spaces -- I just ignored the error and it came out fine. Other than that, they all worked up very quickly, most with only 3 or 4 rounds (they are small, after all). |
